Questions

Here to help

If your question is not answered here, email us at Thelaceart@outlook.com.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. We work by appointment so every fitting has our full attention. Use our contact form or email us to arrange a time.

Where are you located?

Our studio is at 1320 Eastover Ave, Albemarle, NC 28001.

How much do alterations cost?

Prices depend on the garment, the fabric and the work involved, so we quote at your fitting. You will always approve the price before any work starts.

How long will my alteration take?

It depends on the work and how busy the season is. We will give you a ready date at your fitting and do our best to work around your event.

Do you offer rush service?

When our schedule allows, yes. Let us know your deadline when you get in touch and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

What should I bring to my fitting?

The garment, the shoes you will wear with it, and any undergarments that affect the fit. Photos of the look you want are helpful too.

Do you alter wedding dresses?

Yes — bridal and formal wear is one of our specialties. We recommend booking your first bridal fitting two to three months before your date.

Can you repair lace?

Yes. We repair, re-apply and add lace by hand, including appliqué and edging. Bring the piece in and we will look at the best approach.

Do you make custom garments?

Yes. Custom tailoring starts with a consultation, followed by measurements, fabric selection and fittings. See our Custom Tailoring page.

Do you work on menswear?

Yes — suits, trousers, shirts and coats are all welcome.

Can I bring a garment that was bought online?

Of course. We alter clothing from any store, as well as vintage and heirloom pieces.

How do I pay?

Payment is taken in the studio when you collect your garment. For custom pieces, a deposit may be requested before work begins. Ask us about accepted payment methods.

What happens if I am not happy with the fit?

Try your garment on before you leave the studio. If something is not right, we will adjust it. See our Satisfaction & Refund Policy for details.
